Announcing GFI LANguard N.S.S. 8


This month, GFI released GFI LANguard Network Security Scanner (N.S.S.) 8, the latest version of its award-winning security scanning, patch management and network auditing solution; offering businesses the most effective method of securing their network with a single, integrated solution.


GFI LANguard N.S.S. 8 is a security auditing tool that gives administrators detailed knowledge of vulnerabilities in their network and how these can be addressed in a timely manner. GFI LANguard N.S.S. has consistently received high praise from industry experts and users alike. New End User License Agreement (EULA)


GFI has introduced a new end user license agreement to clarify how products are designed to be used and their licensing terms. This came into effect on 27 March with GFI LANguard Network Security Scanner 8. All GFI product shipments, whether to new customers or existing, are now licensed under the new EULA. All existing GFI products and extensions will be migrated to the new EULA as per existing maintenance release schedule and support policy.

Vice-President of Product Engineering appointed


Simon Reed this month joined the company as Vice-President of Product Engineering. He comes to GFI after six years as Director of Engineering at McAfee. Mr Reed, 37, will be responsible for all product strategy, software engineering and GFI Security Labs research activities at GFI.


At GFI, he will be providing direction for new technologies and products, enhancing engineering efficiency and taking the product and engineering team forward in line with the company’s rapid growth. Mr Reed will be using his experience to boost efficiency and cross-fertilization of ideas between the development departments at GFI and provide direction for new products and technologies.

GFI MailEssentials wins ‘Editor’s Choice’ award


IT Week Magazine, a digital publication, has selected GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP as the 2007 Editor’s Choice winner for significantly cutting down on spam as well as for its pricing and functionality. “If your company is looking for an effective method to distinctly cut down on spam in an effective manner, then you’ll want to check out GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP. You can expect the software to block more than 98% of all spam email that attempts to reach corporate users,” the magazine said.
